WHAT TYPE OF INSURANCE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Depending on where your business is at will determine what type of protection you need. If you operate in a retail space, most leases will require some form of general liability coverage. However, you may want to consider protecting your business from more perils as well. See below some of the most common policy types to help safeguard your company.

DIFFERENT POLICY TYPES

There are multiple different aspects to your business and we help you protect them accordingly.

BOP OR BUSINESS OWNER'S POLICY

This is the most common option for business owners.

A Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) combines business property and business liability insurance into one business insurance  policy. BOP insurance helps cover your business from claims resulting from things like fire, theft or other covered disasters. Business owners insurance also helps cover claims that could arise from your business’s operation. These include claims of bodily injury or property damage. They also include claims related to personal and advertising injury.

Businesses can tailor their Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) to help meet their unique needs by adding optional coverages like:

  • Data breach

  • Business income for off-premises utility services

  • Other specialized coverages

A BOP Policy is great because it can be custom-made to fit industry specific businesses. This means it’s great for businesses of any size especially small businesses. Package policies, such as a Business Owner’s Policy, are built to cover businesses that generally face the same risks. Customizing your BOP Insurance is an imperative first step when insuring your business. You should do this from the beginning to protect against loss and damages early on.

GENERAL LIABILITY

A Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy protects your business from financial loss should you be liable for property damage or personal and advertising injury caused by your services, business operations or your employees. It covers non-professional negligent acts. This is typically your first line of defense for your business.

BUSINESS PROPERTY

Business property insurance is used to cover any commercial property. Business property insurance protects property from such perils as fire, theft, and natural disaster. It is important to protect your business assets and inventory in the event of the unthinkable. It is generally bundled together with other forms of insurance, such as commercial general liability insurance.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY

This type of insurance will help you protect your physical building if your company owns the space. The main perils to consider protection against are wind, water, fire, and hurricane damage. There are many policy forms and endorsements to this type of insurance, so make sure you go over the difference of your coinsurance percentage as well as if it is replacement cost or actual cash value.

WORKER'S COMPENSATION

Do you need Worker's Compensation coverage?

  • Florida Law requires non-construction employers who have 4 or more employees including any non exempt business owners.

I hire sub-contractors, aren’t they responsible for their own insurance?

  • Yes, each sub-contractor is responsible for providing Workers' Compensation insurance for their workers in the event of a work related injury, illness, or fatality.

  • However, the primary contractor is responsible for ensuring that the sub-contractor has provided the coverage for its workers.

  • If a worker is injured, without being protected by insurance, then the contractor becomes responsible for the payment of benefit

If you need Worker's Compensation coverage for your company, our specialists will be happy to help.
